Deyan Sudjic suggests that in 1759 Chippendale charged 90 pounds 11 s 0d for the bed. The bookcase he designed for the Dumfries was offered for auction in 2007 with a reserved price of 4 million pounds. Expensive enough! However, in an auction carried out by Morphy, chairs were sold in a price ranging from 200 dollars to 1000 dollars (http://antiques.about.com/od/onlinepriceguides/ig/Chippendale-Furniture-Values/Chippendale-Corner-Cupboard.htm). However, they suggest these were reproductions. To find an original Chippendale design, collectors need to look for Chippendale´s form and aesthetic attributes. The Chippendale Society owns an important collection of furniture and documents displayed in Leeds, England.
