Introducing the eggplant (work in process)

In a word, what is eggplant ?
It may be seen in three different ways:
-the delicate and fragile eggplant, cultivated as an annual (possibly related to its value ?)
-not this kind of european boring vegetables: it comes from India at the very beginning, and is now linked to Mediterranean culture, to something shinny (some clue to study signification ?)
-eggplant is not banana: it is very common in the sense that you have neither funny jokes nor fancy ads which imply eggplant. One should say that it is very common. But eggplant is largely used, cooked and cultivated in many different environnements. (originality ?)
These few elements allow us to approach the eggplant as an object; at the very sight, it's organic but not "emotionnal", you can't love an egg plant. The problem here is trying to see, if possible, if the eggplant is not only part of this daily "stuffs" for which you are disregarding.
