Style - Originality

I tried to simplify my part and make it go straight to the point.

Style

This object looks kind of like a three dimensional X. It has rounded edges. It comes in 3 colours; 2 that can emit light: Jack Fluoro and Jack Light White. One that cannot: Jack Black. It kind of has a shiny aspect probably due to the paint or the material used: this makes the object stand out.

2 sides are 58 cm long and another is 52 cm. So it is not perfectly symmetrical even though it looks symmetrical.

Originality

What makes it’s originality is it’s multi-functionality. It’s shape actually makes it quite unpractical. It is an object where design actually does not serve one of it’s primary function: to signal the function of the object.

The fact that you can combine the object in so many ways also makes it original: the object becomes almost toy like.

The fact that you can assemble the Jack like a puzzle and that it does not serve any clear function gives this object a toy-like aspect. This is also reinforced by the material used to build the object and by the resemblance to the objects used to play Jacks. That makes it quite original since most of our furniture does not have a toy –like aspect.
